Specialist Global knife sharpening, repair and re-serration from Blade & Butler, available throughout the UK by courier.
Global knives are by far the most common knife brand we receive at our workshop, giving us extensive first-hand experience of sharpening, repairing and restoring Global blades across their different ranges and models.
We professionally sharpen Global chef's knives, Santoku knives, utility and paring knives, single-bevel models, Global shears and serrated Global bread knives.
Damaged tips, chips and misaligned edge profiles can also be repaired as part of our service.
Our nationwide courier service allows Global owners anywhere in the UK to send their knives directly to our workshop for professional sharpening and return delivery to their door.
We have been sharpening knives for generations and Global™ is the brand we see more frequently than any other in our workshop.
Every Global knife is individually assessed before sharpening. We take account of the blade geometry, condition, existing edge and intended use before determining the most appropriate sharpening approach.
Single-bevel Global knives are sharpened on one side only, maintaining their intended asymmetric geometry, while conventional double-bevel models are sharpened correctly on both sides.
Our objective is simple: remove only the steel necessary to restore a sharp, practical and durable cutting edge while maintaining the correct profile and geometry angle of the knife.

Specifically servicing private households and foodies, we’re backed by a century old heritage you can trust to provide you with the very best outcomes and all done with our trade mark love and care.
We sharpen Global serrated bread knives and can also completely re-serrate worn Global bread-knife edges on request.
The Global G-9 is one of the serrated models we regularly work on. Where the original serrations have become excessively worn or damaged, we can cut a new functional serrated profile by hand rather than simply sharpening the existing worn edge.
Full bread-knife re-serration is available on request at no additional charge with our sharpening service. If you would like your Global bread knife fully re-serrated, simply request “re-serration” in the comments when placing your order.
Global knives frequently arrive at our workshop with more than simply a blunt edge. We regularly encounter chipped cutting edges, damaged or broken tips and blade profiles that have become uneven through years of use or previous sharpening.
Damage to the cutting edge and tip is repaired as part of our standard sharpening service at no additional cost. Misaligned profiles are also corrected where necessary in accordance with our 360° Care Plan.
Because knife repair is a reductive process, damaged steel must be carefully removed and the blade re profiled to around 15° ( depending on model ) to create a clean, functional cutting edge while retaining as much of the original blade as possible.

Global™ knives are made from stainless steel, but stainless does not mean completely immune to corrosion.
We regularly encounter Global™ blades with red surface rust, which can usually be removed as part of our service. More serious pit corrosion appears as small dark marks or pits within the surface of the steel and cannot simply be polished away without removing significant blade material.
Corrosion can also occur around the welded area between the blade and handle. We therefore recommend washing Global™ knives carefully and drying them by hand immediately after use rather than allowing them to remain wet or air-dry.
Where appropriate, we can also reduce or remove scratches and surface marking from Global™ blades. Deep scratch removal may affect or remove the Global logo depending upon its position on the blade.
Yes. Chips and damage to the cutting edge can normally be repaired as part of our sharpening service at no additional cost. The blade is carefully reprofiled to remove the damage before a new cutting edge is created.
Yes. Damaged and broken tips are among the most common repairs we perform. The blade is carefully reprofiled to create a new functional tip while removing only the material necessary to complete the repair.
Yes. We sharpen Global serrated bread knives and can completely re-serrate worn bread-knife edges on request. If you require full re-serration, request “re-serration” in the comments when ordering or we'll assess and perform.
Yes. Single-bevel Global knives are sharpened on the appropriate side only in order to maintain their intended asymmetric edge geometry.
Red surface rust can usually be removed. Pit corrosion penetrates into the surface of the steel and generally cannot be completely removed.
