Delivery times are guides and are 99.9% accurate
We have 4 shipping options for you to choose from and the prices below are the total for all three shipments and all the protective packaging you'll need.
DPD 200. Next working day. Insured up to £200 at £19.99
DPD 1000. Next working day. Insured up to £1000 at £25.99
EVRi / HERMES STANDARD. 2-5 DAY SHIPPING insured up to £20 at £8.99
FREE SHIPPING WITH EVRi / HERMES when ordering a 7 knife package or above insured up to £20.
Having your knives sharpened involves three shipping journeys.
1. Initial knife boxes ship automatically via EVRi / Hermes once we receive your order. Hermes is standard 2-5 working day shipping.
If your knife box has not arrived after 5 working days please contact us.
2. You place your knives in the box and return them to us.
DPD should take 1 working day from collection and EVRi / Hermes should take 2-5 working days from collection.
Ensure you drop them at your local parcel shop as early as possible as drivers usually collect from parcel shops from midday onwards. If you miss your driver collection then your knives will be collected the following working day.
3. We endeavour to sharpen your knives within one working day and ship them back the following day using the same courier service you chose at checkout.
Please note that stated delivery times are guides and are achieved 99% of the time but are not guaranteed.
If you purchase multiple knife packages in one order they must all be sent to us together in one shipment.
They cannot be split over multiple shipments as only one shipping charge is purchased per order.
Please ensure you provide us with a mobile number for our couriers to contact you and please ensure our emails pass your spam filters so that you receive our shipping notifications.
DPD return labels expire 6 months after date of your order.
EVRi / Hermes return labels expire 28 days from order.
If your Evri label has expired we strongly recommend you visit our Shop page to purchase a new return labe . Using expired labels can lead to extended delays in receiving your knives as shipments need to be manually processed and re labelled by Evri.
For valuable knives we recommend our senior trusted partner DPD.
For £19.99 you receive next working day delivery of your knives both ways!
Fully insured up to £200 each time. ( Remember that initial empty knife box ships Hermes )
For extra valuable knives we have DPD 1000 insured both ways up to £1000 for £25.99.
Next working day delivery means the shipment takes 24 hours to reach you from when DPD collect the package from us or from the DPD parcelshop when incoming to us.
Ensure you drop your knife box at your local parcel shop as early as possible in the morning as drivers will usually collect from parcel shops from midday onwards. If you miss your driver collection then your knives will be collected the following working day.
Due to the high value of insured DPD1000 and to ensure compensation is paid in the rare instance of loss, please ensure you take an image of your knives along with our Blade & Butler packaging prior to shipping them to us as this will constitute proof of contents.

If you want an economy shipping option, our slightly slower tracked service is with EVRi / Hermes.
EVRi / Hermes ship to all areas except extreme northerly Highlands IV1-33 postcodes, Shetland,Channel Islands,Isle of Wight and Scillies.
There is an additional £6 surcharge per order for shipping to Scottish Islands.
EVRi / Hermes is free on all orders of 7 knives and over ,otherwise it's just a snip at £8.99 for three way shipping of your knife box.
All packages are insured up to a maximum of £20 for both journeys and are fully tracked.
We recommend EVRi / Hermes for low value knives or knives with no material worth.
If you ship high value knives with EVRi / Hermes you do so at your own risk above the £20 compensation cut off.
EVRi / Hermes return labels are valid for 28 days from when you place your order.
We recommend you purchase a new label from our Shop page at £4.50 if your return label has expired as EVRi / Hermes will still accept expired return labels but it will lead to delays in your shipment reaching us as your return will need to be re labelled manually. In the highly unlikely event that an expired label shipment is then subsequently lost there is no compensation given.
For this service each shipment takes on average 2-5 working days each way.
You will receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking reference when your knives return so that you can track their progress back to you.
You can find your nearest EVRi / Hermes drop shop here https://www.myhermes.co.uk/parcelshop-finder.html
Inside your box you'll find everything you need - a return label ( DPD or EVRi / Hermes ) , protective knife sheafs, mailing bag and packing instructions.
Santoku knives and diamond steels are optional.
Please make sure your knives are clean and dry.
If your knives come with cases or protective sleeves please remove them and ship us your knives only.
First, take as many images of your knives as possible to show their condition and brand. Ensure the images are well lit and show all the knives. Take images of your knives inside the protective sleeves, your packed up box with label attached and if using DPD1000, your knife box inside your local parcelshop when dropping off your box. Keep these images on your device until you receive your returned knives.
Place your knives inside our protective sleeves and press down firmly in a circular motion over the adhesive circles to ensure the blades are fixed securely in place for shipping.
If your knife is too small for both adhesive circles to fully attach to the blade ( such as a paring knife ) , simply place the knife fully inside the protective sleeve and close the end with tape so that the knife does not come free in transit.
Make sure that blade heals do not protrude from the end of their protective sleeves. Do not cover the handles.
The handles must protrude from the sheaf and the knife blade must be orientated correctly so that the adhesive port holes stick to the blade and resemble the green ticked image to the right.
Press down firmly on the adhesive port holes to secure knives for transit. If not the knives may come loose in transit and can be damaged, lost or cause injury.
Smaller knives such as paring knives should be placed completely inside a protective sleeve and the sleeve should be sealed shut with tape.
Shipping a cleaver to us and it won't fit in the protective sleeve?
Make sure you only cut exactly the length of your cleaver and not more.
Use tape to tape both sides of the protective sleeve shut.
Then top and tail your knives like this image shows.
The box is designed to hold up to 10 knives.
Your knife box measures 35mm deep and 157mm wide and is designed to fit through 99% of all letter boxes.
If your letter box is smaller than these dimensions then please be aware that your empty knife box may be left in a safe place or with a neighbour if you are not at home.
You can amend and change DPD delivery times to suit at your convenience.
Re delivery can only be rescheduled with EVRi / Hermes once they have failed to deliver on the first occasion.
If you are packing more than five knives you should top and tail them to make them fit easily inside the box.
Your knife box is designed to carry up to 10 knives and fit easily through 99.9% of letter boxes.
Tear off the adhesive strip and close the box up ensuring box ears go inside box ends (see image above).
Place the box inside the plastic mailing bag, tape it up and a fix your shipping label. The packing instructions on this page form part of our T&C's so it is imperative that they are followed to ensure safe transit.
Once you get your knives back be sure to remove and inspect within 24 hours.
Be very careful when extracting your knives from their sleeves as you are now responsible for your knives.
Knives are returned taped together to prevent movement in transit. This protects our couriers from injury.
Do not force the knives out of their sleeves as this could lead to injury. Instead cut them free with scissors or carefully jig them until the adhesive circles release the blade.
Run your knife under warm soapy water and hand dry to remove any tape adhesive attached from the sleeves.
You'll find lots of information on our Knife Resource page in the footer of our website to help with maintaining your knives.
