Wüsthof knives. Our verdict. — Blade & Butler

Wüsthof has been making knives in Solingen, Germany, since 1814 and remains one of the great names in German knife making. Traditionally known for forged Western-style knives, Wüsthof uses high-carbon stainless steels, most notably X50CrMoV15, with excellent corrosion resistance and toughness.

Modern Wüsthof blades combine relatively thin cutting geometry with excellent tapers and robust construction. Pound for pound, we think Wüsthof make some of the best kitchen knives you can buy.

They are straightforward to maintain at home with a honing steel and respond exceptionally well to professional sharpening and servicing. Incredibly popular with professional chefs, they are a regular daily visitor to our workshops.
